Jai Jinendra and Sadar Pranam,

It has been over four months since COVID-19 pandemic upended normal lives, and in these tough times I hope each of you are safe and healthy. All of us are learning to live with new normal. It also marks four months since the closure of JCNC Bhawan and Temple.

Our great nation just celebrated 244th Independence Day. I hope all of you had a wonderful 4th of July.

Year 2020 is also 20th Anniversary Year of our beloved beautiful Bhawan and Temple. Between Fri Jul 31st and Sun Aug 2nd, we will have virtual anniversary celebrations with Bhavana, Adhar Abhishek, Sattarbhedi Pooja and Dhawaja ceremonies with Labharthi family taking dharma laabh in the temple.

Next six weeks will be full of major events – Anniversary, Paryushan, Das Laxan, Samwatsari Pratikraman, Parna, Tapasvi Bahuman – and your Executive Committee, EC Religious Committee and BOD Religious Committee members are working diligently to provide best virtual experience. Rikesh Shah and Padmesh Parekh, VP and Co VP Of Religious will provide program specific details. I am thankful to the EC, BOD and Volunteers for their tireless efforts in adjusting to the new reality of virtual programs.

I am happy to note that JCNC collaborated with JAINA on the project of giving a "Gift of Education". JCNC raised funds for 50 Chromebooks with matching contributions from Sarva Mangal Trust and Anekant Community Center and 100 Chromebooks will be distributed to the underprivileged schools in the Bay Area. I personally thank each of the donors and project lead Sunil Ranka supported by Kirit Bavishi and Yogesh Bapna.

I hope all JCNC members have registered for 2021 JAINA calendar. As previously announced by JAINA, calendar will be sent only to those who has registered their address for the calendar.

On Jul 11, YJA Celebrated bi-annual convention which was virtual due to COVID-19. YJA Day 2020 was attended by 1,100 people in 30+ states and 7 countries. JCNC was one of the sponsors of the YJA event. Our hearty congratulations to YJA leadership for a highly successful and deeply engaged daylong virtual event.

I am happy to report that during COVID-19 JCNC Cultural team leaders Ravi Shah and Sanket Shah VP and Co VP of Cultural arranged numerous Swadhyaya, Bhakti, Bhavana which was well attended by participants from all age groups. We are thankful to the volunteers in the US and in India for providing spiritual upliftment. We will cover in-depth report on Cultural departments inspiring work in Darpan.

Facilities department led by Devkumar Gandhi has done awesome work in preparing temple re-opening plans and protocols. Unfortunately, after CA Governor’s order we had to close temple within 48 hours of reopening. Many members were able to visit temple during that brief period.

Shala registration for 2020-21 is open. Please take advantage of early bird registration. You may reach out to Ritaben Shah and Nishant Sabadra, VP and Co VP Of Education for any assistance with registration.

I am thankful to all the members for participating at the Jul 12 Special Membership Meeting. You spoke, we heard. We will share a meeting summary with the community and BOD will deliberate and appropriately act in a time bound manner on the suggestions put forth by the community members. I appreciate your patience as we went thru the meeting which lasted over 8 hours.

I really hope everyone will step back, take a deep breath, and reflect on the various viewpoints put forth by the membership. JCNC is passing thru some difficult times and I am confident together we shall overcome the current storm.

Seeds of JCNC were planted some 47 years ago in 1973. Two generations later, we have only 2 NexGen’s in JCNC leadership. This clearly shows that there is a task cut out for everyone to create a culture and environment which is welcoming to the NexGen both in the BOD and EC. Let all of us reflect on the root causes of current state so we can prepare our beloved organization for the NexGen volunteers.

Fourth Sunday in July is celebrated as National Parents Day. Sun Jul 25 is a day to celebrate family and family values. The best way to mark this day is by spending time with your parents and doing something tangible for the larger JCNC family.

Please donate generously to JCNC including by signing up for the Lifetime Support Program and Dollar-a-Day program. For any assistance with donation please contact finance@jcnc.org.

Lastly, we pay our sincere homage to late Pdt. Dhirubhai Mehta who on Jul 10 left for heavenly abode. JCNC was fortunate to have received valuable guidance from Shri Dhirubhai.

Live streaming is available 24/7. Have virtual Darshan at jcnc.org.

Stay healthy, stay safe.

Biren Shah
