Jai Jinendra and Sadar Pranam,

Happy Father’s Day to all JCNC Dads. On this auspicious occasion, I quote a shloka in Sanskrit:

पिता स्वर्गः पिता धर्मः पिता परमकं तपः
पितरि प्रीतिमापन्ने सर्वाः प्रीयन्ति देवताः

Hindi Translation:
मेरे पिता मेरे स्वर्ग हैं, मेरे पिता मेरे धर्म हैं, वे मेरे जीवन की परम तपस्या हैं।
जब वे खुश होते हैं, तब सभी देवता खुश.

English translation:
My Father is my heaven, my father is my dharma, he is the ultimate penance of my life. If he is happy, all deities are pleased.

Due to COVID-19 JCNC Bhawan and Temple continue to remain closed. Over the past few weeks, we have seen the gradual reopening of businesses in the Bay Areas. However, indoor religious activities are still not permitted. Girishbhai Shah, JCNC Interfaith Lead, and SiVIC Board Vice Chair is inactive parleys with the office of Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors and other faith leaders. We are keenly following COVID-19 developments.

I know everyone is anxiously awaiting the re-opening of JCNC Bhawan and Temple. I assure you that we will reopen as soon as indoor religious activities are permitted by the Santa Clara County Health Officer. Your Executive Committee is working on the plans, protocols, and safety measures necessary for the health and wellbeing of members, visitors, and employees. We will keep you updated.

June 20 was the first day of summer, and with that, the countdown has started for the major events in August - Anniversary, Paryushan and Das Laxan. Due to COVID-19, celebrations, this year will be far from normal. Rikesh Shah, VP, and Padmesh Parekh, Co VP Religious Programs, and ECRC members and volunteers will plan virtual celebrations and the Religious department will make necessary announcements after discussions within the Executive Committee.

June 21 is the sixth International Yoga Day by the United Nations. Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose efforts led to the annual celebrations aptly said “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world, and nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in wellbeing”. Let all of us stay fit and healthy by regularly practicing Yoga.

Amid this pandemic suffering, with compassion to the underprivileged kids, the best way of giving back to the community is a gift of education. JCNC joined hands with JAINA, Sarva Mangal Family Trust, and Anekant Community Center on the project of giving a "Gift of Education" – Chromebooks to the underprivileged schools in the Bay Area.  It is an excellent opportunity for JCNC to create a rapport with the community and local school districts. The cost of each Chromebook is only $125. At JCNC Sunil Ranka is leading the Chromebook project.  We solicit your wholehearted support. We are thankful to Shobha Vora, JCNC BOD Chair, and Sunil Ranka, Yogesh Bapna, Kirit Bhavishi our JAINA Directors for their support in this noble cause.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic events happening around the nation that have resulted in many deaths. JCNC expresses its deepest condolences to the African-American community, families, and friends of the victims. JCNC stands in solidarity and support with our friends of the minority community nationwide.

Let us take a deep look into our own souls and be the change we want in the world.

Live streaming is available 24/7. Have virtual Darshan at jcnc.org.

Stay healthy, stay safe.

Sincerely,

Biren Shah
