[JCNC] President's message on Corona Virus

posted Mar 8, 2020, 4:24 PM by JCNC Technology

Jai Jinendra,

I am writing to give you updates on the prevalent Coronavirus situations and key decisions are taken tonight by your Executive Committee.

JCNC executive leadership is closely monitoring the advisories and updates provided by CDC, WHO, US State Department, CA State, Santa Clara County and other healthcare groups. We are also watching Coronavirus heatmap and other resources published, almost on a real-time basis, by news aggregators and news outlets.

As by now most of us know, on Mar 4 California Governor Gavin Newsom declared health emergency in the state.

There are now 20 people who have tested positive for the virus in the Santa Clara County. On Mar 5, new guidance was issued by the County of Santa Clara’s Public Health Department. New Guidance for Persons Hosting Mass Gatherings and Large Community Events: “At this time, we recommend postponing or canceling mass gatherings and large community events where large numbers of people are within arm’s length of one another.” Please click on the link for the full text of county guidance:

The U.S. death toll from the Coronavirus grew to 13, with CA announcing its first fatality linked to the viral infection and Washington state reporting its 10th death. We have 33 cases in the Bay area and 62 cases in California of which 17 are through community spread. As of the writing of this email, Overall, The U.S. has at least 200 cases of the virus, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University. Worldwide Coronavirus cases surpassed 100,000 and killed more than 3,300. Some 54% of those infected have recovered.

Today your executive committee huddled into the conference call and discussed evolving situations. We were actively looking at the ways to avoid large gathering or avoid gathering of across the age groups so we don’t contribute to spreading the virus or put our community members at risk, especially the age groups which are more prone to the worst impact of the virus. In your own safety, we request senior citizens, young kids or pregnant women to avoid gatherings at JCNC or elsewhere. Based on the CDC recommendations we would also like to avoid the possibility of spreading any germs in the JCNC facility.

For the health and safety of JCNC members and visitors we have canceled all events – JCNC as well as private events over the next 4 weeks – up to Apr 5.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. For the first time in the 20 years history of JCNC, events are canceled due to a public health crisis. Your executive committee has taken this decision with a heavy heart. We solicit your support as your state and local community take preventive steps to slow down the spread of the virus. Please forgive EC members. Micchami Dukkadam.

Bhawan is open but we urge you to avoid visiting if you can. The website is being updated announcing the cancellation of events.

We urge you to be prepared now to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Please stay home if you are sick, especially if you have a fever or flu-like symptoms, we request you to NOT come to JCNC. We are requesting this to ensure the safety of members and visitors.

We have attached the CDC poster. Please take a moment to read and follow the instructions.

JCNC's goal is to keep our community healthy, happy and protected.

Once again, for the health and safety of JCNC members and visitors, we have canceled all events – JCNC as well as private events till April 5.

 Micchami Dukkadam.
